Selection Board and Steering Committee

The membership list for the 2011-2012 competition will be updated in December.

The role of the Selection Board is to endorse the recommendations for Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship awards put forward by the three granting agencies' selection committees. The Selection Board also oversees the program's process, policies, and results to ensure that the program achieves its objectives. The Steering Committee, made up of the Presidents of the three federal granting agencies, and the Deputy Ministers of Industry Canada and Health Canada, makes the final decision pertaining to the recommendations for Banting Postdoctoral fellowship awards. Each year, the Steering Committee will approve 70 recipients (for a total of 140 active awards after the first year).

The Board includes:

  • distinguished Canadian and international experts; and
  • members of the federal granting agencies' Governing Councils.

The Board has the same membership as the prestigious board originally established to support implementation of the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships Program.

The members of the Selection Board are:

Members from the Science and Technology Community
