General Information
Application Process
- Applicants must contact the host research institution whose endorsement they wish to receive.
- The application is initiated through the ResearchNet Application System with the CV data components created using the Common CV system.
- Applicants must finalize and submit an application package via ResearchNet by the application deadline of November 2, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. (EDT). Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
After You Apply
- Applications are reviewed against the eligibility criteria. Applications that are deemed to have not met the eligibility criteria are withdrawn from the competition and an email is sent to the applicant advising them of this.
All eligible applications will undergo an evaluation by an agency-specific selection committee. The agencies reserve the right to make the final assignment of the applications based on the mandate of the committee assigned to review applications in that area. Note that agencies are the final authority for the assignment of applications to committees.
Applications will be reviewed in relation to the Selection Criteria which will be weighted equally by the selection committees.
- Following approval by the Tri-agency Steering Committee of the recommendations of the selection committees, the federal granting agencies will notify applicants of the results of their application by March 30, 2012 by posting a decision letter to their ResearchNet account. The names of recipients of the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships and other basic award information will be published on the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program website. For more on the posting of and access to information, please refer to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.
- Without exception, the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships:
- are tenable ONLY at the institution which supported the original application for the program;
- must be taken up no earlier than April 1 and no later than October 1, of the year following the application deadline; and
- are for two years.
